Crinipellis zonata (Pk.) Pat. Cap 1-2.5cm across, convex to nearly flat with a small cuplike depression on the disc; tawny and cream; zones dry, densely covered in coarse, tawny hairs set in lines; dextrinoid. Gills free or nearly so, close, narrow; white. Stem 25-50 x I-2mm, hollow; densely tawny-hairy. Spores ellipsoid, smooth, 4-6 x 3-5µ. Deposit white. Habitat on roots and debris of hardwoods. Found in eastern North America, west to Indiana and Texas. Season August-September. Edibility not known.
