Armillaria fusca Mitchel & Smith Cap 4-7cm across, convex becoming flat with an umbo and a margin hung with veil remnants; dingy gray-brown or dark fawn; smooth at first but streaked with fine hairs, then becoming adpressed, scaly. Gills adnexed, close; white to grayish. Stem 60-70 x 10-15mm, equal; white above the ring, below covered in fine, grayish-buff, woolly veil remnants. Veil white, partial veil leaving a ring on the upper stem and remnants on the margin. Taste mild. Spores ellipsoid, smooth, amyloid, 6-8 x 4-5µ. Deposit white. Habitat singly or scattered under spruce. Found in Colorado. Season June-August. Edibility not known -avoid.
