Rutland, MA 08 08-13-2013 I will refer to this mushroom as a Orange grisette, way too much myco-confusion on about half a dozen synonimus, on top of that new studies .... (Amanita crocea (Quél.) Kühn. & Romagn. syn. A. vaginata var. crocea Quél. syn. Amanitopsis crocea (Quél.) or Amanita pseudocrocea) Orange grisette is a pretty name as this pretty ringless Amanita with apricot orange 4 1/2" cap (darker on the knobbed center) with strongly lined margins, and little wavy. Free crowded white gills. 10"+ ringless stalk not enlarged at the base, but slightly narrowed at the apex. A lot of orange scales/fibers especially towards the base Whitish spore print of smooth globose Lugol/inomyloid 9.52-8.97um largest spore.
