Flesh whitish to ochre-buff, often tinged violaceous especially in stem apex. Taste bitter, smell none or faintly of radish. Gills olive-brown at first, finally umber. Spore print rust. Spores subglobose and roughened, 7–10 x 5–7µ. AgNO3 turns flesh black immediately. Habitat deciduous and coniferous woods. Season autumn. Occasional. Edibility suspect -avoid.
