Pleurotus eryngii (D.C. ex Fr.) Quél Kräuter Seitling Pleurote du panicaut, Argouane, Oreille de chardon. Cap 3–10cm across, convex then centrally depressed, margin remaining down-turned, slightly velvety at first remaining so at margin but elsewhere soon smooth, dirty whitish at first then brownish. Stem 30–100 x 10–30mm, usually slightly eccentric, whitish. Flesh white. Taste and smell pleasant. Gills decurrent, greyish. Spore print white. Spores narrowly elliptic, 10–14 x 4–5um. Habitat on roots and decaying remains of umbellifers, especially Eryngium and Heracleum. Season spring to autumn. Not yet found in Britain. Edible. Found In Europe.
