Amanita pantherina var. multisquamosa (Pk.) Jenkins Cap 3-1l cm across, convex becoming flat, occasionally with a depressed disc and a fairly distinctly lined margin; whitish with a tan-colored disc; sticky when moist, smooth, spotted with soft, white patches or warts of volva) remnants that are more woolly at the margin. Gills free, crowded, numerous; white. Stem 35-130 x 3-12mm, usually hollow, tapering slightly toward the top; whitish; surface with minute patches or hairy scales; basal bulb almost round, with a volva like a distinct collar with a free margin at the top of the bulb; a persistent, whitish, pendant ring is often flaring with a thickened edge.
