Found in northeastern North America, south to Virginia. Season August-September. Not edible. Comment Cortinarius pulchrifolius var. odorifer Hesler differs in its odor, which is strong, pleasant, and sweet, similar to ripe pears. and in its spores, which are larger,10-12 x 6.3-7.5µ.
